Recreational Gymnastics

Recreational gymnastics is the foundation on which all gymnastics programs are built. Gymnastics is an activity that every child should enjoy. Our diverse range of programs for children starting at 3 months old and continuing all the way to our adult gymnastics program ensures that anyone who wants to participate can enjoy this great sport.

Puma Pals

We are very excited to announce that CGA is now offering an Open Gym for kids with special needs!  Join us for an hour of jumping, climbing, spinning, running and tons of FUN.  Puma Pals is an ideal space for kids to develop their gross motor skills, sensory system, independence and social skills without the structure of a class.

Infant

Focusing on exploration and movement, this parent/caregiver participation class is for babies and toddlers under 24 mon

Junior Beginner Boys

Junior Beginner Boys is an introductory class designed for five and six year old boys with little or no prior gymnastics experience.  This class teaches basic gymnastics techniques and terminology through positive coaching methods that emphasizes progression and proper technique for each skill.  This class provides comprehensive gymnastics instruction on bars, rin

Junior Advanced Girls

Junior Advanced Girls, is an hour and a half-long class that will continue focusing on the 4 Olympic events: vault, bars, balance beam and floor. This class has been split into two age groups to assist with skill development; ages 4.5-5 years old (Blue) & ages 6-7.5 years old (Orange). 

Your child’s coach will take the girls through floor, uneven bars, beam and tumble trak rotations each week. At the end of each class the kids will do some strength exercises and enjoy a game or pit time! 

Intermediate Girls

After taking a Beginner Girls class your child’s coach may recommend Intermediate Girls. Intermediate Girls, ages 6-8 years is an hour long class that will continue focusing on the 4 Olympic events: vault, bars, beam and floor.

Your child’s coach will take the girls through floor and bars rotations each week. Every other week they’ll get to do balance beam, and tumble trak. At the end of each class the kids will have a chance to enjoy a game or pit time!

Senior Beginner Girls

Our Senior Beginner Girls class is a one hour-long introductory class. Senior Beginner, age 8 years and older, provides a fun and safe introduction to gymnastics. This class will begin focusing on the 4 Olympic events: vault, bars, beam and floor.

Your child’s coach will take the girls through floor and uneven bars rotations each week. Every other week they’ll get to do balance beam, and tumble trak. The kids will also do some strength exercises and enjoy a game or pit time! 

Junior Beginner Girls

Our Junior Beginner Girls class is a one hour-long introductory class. Junior Beginner, ages 5-6 years old, provides a fun and safe introduction to gymnastics and an easy transition from our Pre-School program. This class will begin focusing on the 4 Olympic events: vault, bars, beam and floor.

Your child’s coach will take the girls through floor and bars rotations each week. Every other week they’ll get to do balance beam, and tumble trak. At the end of each class the kids will enjoy a game or pit time! 

Advanced Girls 2

After taking our Advanced Girls class your child’s coach may recommend Advanced Girls 2. Advanced Girls 2, ages 7 years and older, is an hour and a half-long class that will continue focusing on the 4 Olympic events: vault, bars, beam and floor.

Your child’s coach will take the girls through floor, uneven bars, beam and tumble trak rotations each week. At the end of each class the kids will do some strength exercises and enjoy a game or pit time! 

Private Lessons

Champaign Gymnastics Academy offers Private & Semi-Private Lessons as a supplemental tool for our rec and team classes. Lessons are offered based on coach availability and must be scheduled in advance. 

  • All lessons must be scheduled directly with the coach
  • No private lessons may be scheduled Monday-Thursday from 4:30-7:00 PM
  • Private lessons must be paid in full by cash or check, directly to the coach
  • Families with an outstanding balance of $300 or more are not eligible for private lessons

Toddler

Our Toddler classes provide a fun and safe atmosphere for you and your child to learn the basics of gymnastics. Our instructors will guide each parent and child through gymnastics skills such as hanging, swinging, jumping, rolling, and balancing. In the second toddler classes, children will start to be challenged to show independence in the class and work to gaining skills by themselves. The children will also be challenged to develop skills such as counting, following directions, and playing well with others.

Adult Gymnastics

The Adult Gymnastics class at CGA is a unique experience that you just can’t get at your local fitness center. Adult Gymnastics not only provides a great work out you can’t get anywhere else but it also lets you unleash your inner child and learn gymnastics skills you thought might have passed you by. This is a class for all ages and skill levels and our small gymnast to coach ratio (8:1) allows each class to be tailored to the individual. There is nothing holding anyone back from taking this class (leotards not required!).

Tumbling

Tumbling is designed to teach the basic tumbling skills used in cheerleading. These skills include, but are not limited to, round-offs, back handsprings, back tucks, and aerials. Our experienced coaches can provide a competitive edge to anyone trying to make a cheerleading team or improve their existing skill set.

Advanced Girls 1

After taking our Intermediate Girls class your child’s coach may recommend Advanced Girls. Advanced Girls, ages 7 years and older, is an hour and a half-long class that will continue focusing on the 4 Olympic events: vault, bars, balance beam and floor.

Your child’s coach will take the girls through floor, uneven bars, beam and tumble trak rotations each week. At the end of each class the kids will do some strength exercises and enjoy a game or pit time! 

Beginner Girls

Continuing Boys

Our Continuing classes are a blast! If your child is coming from Beginner or Advanced Boys this class will open up more opportunities to try new skills. If you’re trying gymnastics for the first time this is still a great way to get your feet wet. Continuing Boys ages 8 years and older is an hour-long introductory level class. The boys will focus primarily on the 6 Olympic events: floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and high bar.

Advanced Boys

In Advanced Boys, gymnasts will continue to improve basic skills while being introduced to more advanced skills.  Increased flexibility and strength training will be emphasized. Boys will be trained on floor exercise, pommel horse, parallel bars, high bar, mushroom, rings, and tumble track.

 

Beginner Boys

Beginner Boys is a 65 minute introductory class designed for five to eight year old boys with little or no prior gymnastics experience.  This class teaches basic gymnastics techniques and terminology through positive coaching methods that emphasizes progression and proper technique for each skill.  This class provides comprehensive gymnastics instruction on bars, rings, floor and vault f

Puma Playtime

Our open gym time is an opportunity to use the gymnastics equipment outside of our typical class structure. Children 5 years old & younger and their parents can explore our preschool equipment at their own pace while being supervised by our gymnastics staff. Families are encouraged to attend together, and also to bring in their friends to show them what CGA has to offer! For the safety of your children, we ask that you maintain a 3 children:1 adult ratio.
